Graff’s charitable initiative, For Africa’s Children Every Time (FACET), is delighted to announce the launch of the first Graff Mobile Learning Centres.
The custom-designed vehicles are ‘Mobile Learning Centres,’ packed with educational resources, computers, books, games and DVDs, which give the children much-needed access to, and assistance with, education. The new vans bring hope and opportunity to these youngsters, who live in and around South Africa’s winelands. Over the past six years, Graff’s FACET Foundation has invested heavily in projects across South Africa, Botswana and Lesotho. Forming partnerships with local charities, FACET provides opportunities for children whose lives are blighted by poverty or disease or lack of education.
One van has been transformed into a mobile computer lab, housing 10 laptops, a modem and a printer. The second van has become a wonderful mobile library, packed with literature in both Afrikaans – the language that most of the children of the winelands speak – and English, plus toys and games for those who manage to read a series of books and complete a review of them, to mark their literacy progress.
