The Banghoek Valley joins together in support of the 2017 Cape Wine Auction


The prestigious Cape Wine Auction has, since its inaugural event of 2014, raised in excess of R33 million, which, without offset or deduction, has been distributed to charities actively working for education across the Western Cape from infancy through to adult life.


Now in its 4th year, the Cape Wine Auction is set to raise significant funds for over 20 beneficiaries with 36 donated Auction Lots in support of education throughout the winelands of South Africa.


The Auction Lots are one of kind experiences and are not available for purchase. They include rare wines, exceptional private homes, supremely talented chefs and winemakers and access to the inner sanctum of the South African wine industry. These opportunities come along once, for one auction, and are never again repeated.


The picturesque Banghoek Valley features some of the region’s most spectacular vineyards, inspiring views and sensational cuisine. Nestled in the heart of the these vines, Tokara, Delaire Graff Estate, Bartinney Wines, Boschendal Estate, Thelema and Oldenburg Vineyards have united for the 2017 Auction with an astonishing experience for up to three couples certain to peak interests and raise many auction paddles in the hopes of experiencing the very best of the region.


The successful bidders of this lot will experience three blissful nights of safari accommodation at the magnificent 5 Star Thornybush Luxury Game Lodge near Hoedspruit, in the wildly popular Limpopo province, courtesy of Tokara. A memorable wine paired dinner at Tokara with top South African Chef, Richard Carstens, and Tokara’s Winemaker, Miles Mossop, is an opportunity in which to revel.


The experience continues with a two night stay courtesy of Delaire Graff Estate. Each couple will have their own private Luxury Lodge each complete with a private heated pool and terrace from which to gaze over the valley and vines below.


Accompanying your stay, discover a bespoke Tasting Menu over dinner created by Delaire Graff Restaurant’s Head Chef, Michael Deg, paired with award-winning Delaire Graff wines. Each guest will be pampered at Delaire Graff Spa with a luxurious 60-minute treatment before being led on a guided art tour by renowned local artist, Lionel Smit. Each couple will return home with an autographed copy of his new artist retrospective book.


Bartinney Wines will treat their guests to an unforgettable dining experience above the striking Bartinney Skyfall, hosted by the Jordaan family. Acclaimed Celebrity Chef, Reuben Riffel, will create a truly South African banquet to be paired with Bartinney’s esteemed wines.


A two night stay at the historical Rhodes Cottage, situated on the picture perfect Boschendal Estate, will delight the senses with a morning spent horseback sure to be a source of adventure for the avid outdoor enthusiast.


A walking tour of the lush Werf Food Gardens will inspire an appetite before sitting down to a traditional Cape dinner in the historic Estate Manor House. Included in the Boschendal experience is a farm to table dinner at the Werf Restaurant, hosted by acclaimed Chef, Christiaan Campbell and Winemaker, JC Bekker.


The experience culminates with a two night stay at the charming Oldenburg Homestead, complete with a private butler and personal chef, courtesy of Oldenburg Vineyards. Winemaker, Philip Costandius will present a vertical tasting of their Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy before a delectable winemaker’s dinner.


To take home as a reminder of this once in a lifetime experience are twelve bottles signed by Thelema’s Cellar Master, Gyles Webb. A six-vintage vertical of the Thelema Rabelais, the wines are presented in a striking, crafted wooden case.
